We are recruiting for our Mors Smitt – Wabtec Group site located in Sablé‑sur‑Sarthe - France, a Regional Sales Director (M/F).
Region covered: Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Africa and Latin America
Travel: Approximately 50% of the time (domestic & international)
Who will you be working with?
You will work closely with the European and international Mors Smitt commercial organization, including Regional Sales Managers, Key Account Managers, Front Office teams, and Pre‑Sales and Production sites. This role requires strong collaboration with internal stakeholders across Sales, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Marketing to ensure customer needs are understood and addressed throughout the entire customer journey. You will also interact directly with global customers, strategic partners, and key accounts, most notably Alstom.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Mors Smitt Commercial Organization within Wabtec Group, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth and commercial performance across a large international region. You will lead and support the regional sales team, manage strategic customer relationships, and actively contribute to business development, prospecting, and customer retention initiatives. Reporting into senior commercial leadership, you will contribute to regional business planning, forecasts, and budgets, while ensuring alignment with Wabtec’s commercial policies and customer‑centric strategy.
This role plays a critical part in representing the “voice of the customer” internally and ensuring seamless coordination between Sales, Front Office, Pre‑Sales, and Production teams.
What do we want to know about you?
- Master’s degree in technical or technical‑commercial field
- Minimum 10 years of sales experience in the railway industry
- At least 3 years of experience managing a sales team
- Proven success in B2B sales within complex, international environments
- Strong commercial acumen and natural business development mindset
- Solid understanding of relay technologies and technically demanding customers
- Demonstrated ability to work with ERP systems, Salesforce CRM, and Office tools
- Experience managing sales processes tied to IRIS certifications
- Fluent in French and English (Spanish or Italian is a strong plus)
- Highly organized, results‑oriented, and comfortable with frequent international travel
What will your typical day look like?
- Manage and develop key strategic accounts, acting as Key Account Manager for Alstom
- Identify market trends, customer needs, and new commercial opportunities across the region
- Lead customer prospecting, contract negotiations, and commercial offer preparation
- Develop new customer relationships while strengthening existing partnerships
- Structure, lead, coach, and support the regional sales team
- Contribute to and execute the regional business plan, budgets, and sales strategy
- Ensure consistent application of commercial policies and best practices
- Act as the primary interface between customers and internal teams (Front Office, Pre‑Sales, Production, Quality)
- Support commercial activities such as trade fairs, exhibitions, and sales campaigns
- Prepare and present forecasts, KPIs, sales plans, and budget reporting to management
- Ensure a smooth end‑to‑end customer experience across all touchpoints
