Job description

We’re working with a late-stage, VC-backed technology company that is scaling rapidly across multiple markets. They are strengthening their legal function and are looking for a Legal Counsel to support commercial matters, data protection, and broader operational strategy across the business.

Tasks

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements (including customer, supplier, SaaS, and partnership contracts).

  • Leading on data protection and privacy matters, including advising on GDPR and other applicable frameworks.

  • Supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of privacy policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Working closely with product and engineering teams on data-related issues, including product launches, data use, and risk assessments.

  • Advising on data processing arrangements, including DPAs, international data transfers, and vendor onboarding.

  • Contributing to the design and optimisation of scalable legal and operational processes as the company grows.

  • Collaborating cross-functionally with teams such as commercial, product, security, and operations.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist:in).

  • Relevant post-qualification experience, gained in private practice and/or in-house, with exposure to commercial contracts and data protection.

  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements (e.g. SaaS, customer, supplier, and partnership contracts).

  • Good working knowledge of data protection and privacy frameworks (in particular GDPR), with the ability to advise on practical implementation.

  • Experience supporting or advising on data-related matters such as DPAs, international data transfers, and internal policies/processes.

  • Commercially minded, with a pragmatic approach to balancing legal risk and business objectives.

  • Able to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and performance-related bonus.

  • Flexible and hybrid working setup, with a high level of autonomy.

  • Learning and development budget to support your professional growth.

  • Modern, international work environment with a collaborative culture.

  • Wellbeing support, including mental health resources.

  • Regular team events and offsites.
