Job Description SummaryAs the Avio Aero Commercial Operations Leader, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Commercial Operations function within the Strategy, Marketing & Sales department. You will lead a senior team responsible for proposal/bid preparation, deal structuring, commercial risk assessment, contract negotiation, and approvals, ensuring disciplined execution.
You will deploy FLIGHT DECK and lean methodologies to drive process excellence, digitalization, and productivity, while building a high-performing, customer-focused team that partners effectively across the global Avio Aero and GE Aerospace ecosystem.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Commercial & Deal Leadership

  • Understand Customers needs and priorities and translate them into a winning commercial offer

  • Lead deal structuring, pricing, and risk management to optimize profitability, cash, and long-term value creation.

  • Ensure commercial and contractual compliance, mitigating risks while aligning decisions with customer needs and business strategies.

  • Drive innovative deal strategies that enhance profitability, competitiveness, and market share across key platforms and customers.

  • Enable robust Deal/Gate Reviews process

  • Coordinate and cooperate with the sales Manager to ensure a smooth process across the entire organization

Process Excellence, Lean & Digitalization

  • Use FLIGHT DECK and lean tools to streamline workflows, eliminate waste, and enable standard work across the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) process.

  • Own the deployment of FLIGHT DECK across the ITO team, promoting a culture that prioritizes SQDC in that order.

  • Leverage AI and data-driven insights to enhance operational and transactional efficiency and accelerate process digitalization.

  • Achieve measurable improvements in processes and workflows (e.g., reducing quotation cycle time, improving first-time-right quality, and increasing win rates).

Stakeholder, Customer & Executive Engagement

  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, Program Management, and commercial teams).

  • Build consensus across global, matrixed teams with diverse objectives, aligning on commercial strategies and execution plans.

  • Deliver clear, data-driven presentations and recommendations to executive audiences, influencing decision-making and trade-offs.

  • Represent Commercial Operations in key customer negotiations, program reviews, and strategic account planning as needed.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Inspire and manage a diverse, high-performing team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and alignment to business objectives.

  • Shape team culture and vision, role-modeling GE Behaviors (Customer Focus, Continuous Improvement, Respect for People).

  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent, building robust succession pipelines and capability across the commercial operations organization.

  • Create an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and encourages continuous learning and experimentation.

Minimum Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

  • Extensive industry experience, preferably in aerospace or a closely related industrial sector.

  • Strong customer leadership, negotiation, and executive communication skills, with demonstrated experience influencing senior stakeholders.

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior experience in commercial / industrial domains, preferably within complex, long-cycle or project-based businesses.

  • Financial fluency in pricing, cost and productivity levers, working capital, and program lifecycle economics.

  • Experience across a variety of deal types, such as OEM contracts, services agreements, LTAs, risk/revenue sharing, and/or public tenders.

  • Experience leading programs, projects, or teams using FLIGHT DECK or lean tools, with tangible business impact.

  • Proven people leadership experience, with a track record of attracting, developing, and retaining talent.

  • Strong ability to build relationships, influence, and collaborate cross-functionally, reaching mutually beneficial solutions for GE and our customers.

  • Role model of GE Behaviors – Customer Focus, Continuous Improvement, Respect for People – in all interactions and decisions.
