Home Care Physician Bilingual (EN/PT)

To offer a premium healthcare experience to international tourists, expatriates and digital nomads visiting Lisbon who feel vulnerable due to illness while away from their home country. The physician serves as the primary medical representative of MedVisit in the field — delivering high-quality, expedient medical care directly at the patient's hotel or accommodation, with zero wait times and full English-language communication.

Tasks

• On-Site Diagnosis and Treatment: Conduct thorough history-taking, physical examinations and accurate diagnosis for common illnesses among international travellers (respiratory infections, GI issues, musculoskeletal pain, minor trauma, skin conditions).

• Emergency Assessment: Triage and stabilise patients with potentially critical conditions following established MedVisit protocols until transfer to definitive care.

• Prescription Management: Provide legally compliant prescriptions according to Portuguese and EU medical standards, valid for international insurance reimbursement.

• Minor Medical Procedures: Wound care, suture removal, injections, basic lab sample collection — all performed in the hotel or home environment.

• Multilingual Communication: Communicate medical information, diagnoses and treatment plans in fluent English and Portuguese. Additional languages (Spanish, French) are a significant advantage.

• Hospital Referral: Evaluate the need for specialised or hospital care and coordinate patient transfer to pre-approved private hospitals in Lisbon.

Requirements

• Medical degree recognised in Portugal and active licence with the Ordem dos Médicos Portuguesa

• Fluent English (C1 or above) — primary working language with patients

• Fluent Portuguese — for coordination with hospitals and authorities

• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in general medicine, emergency medicine or internal medicine

• Availability for flexible on-call shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays

• Valid Portuguese driving licence and own vehicle (or ability to use ride-hailing services)

• Registered as autonomous professional (Recibo Verde) or willingness to register

• Own professional liability insurance (seguro de responsabilidade civil profissional)
