Job description

Here at La Casita de Inglés, we believe that learning should be fun! We teach English to children through games, arts & crafts, singing and dancing, theatre, yoga and baking! Almost all of the planning is provided for you, with teachers only having to tailor some of the ideas provided to them related to the topic of the week (outer space, sports, science, food, mindfulness, music, nature, etc.) to their specific groups. We don’t carry out exams and only require teachers to fill out progress reports every trimester. Classes are small and interactive, with a maximum of 8 children per class in our after-school programme (although this number can occasionally reach a maximum of 10 if students need to make up on any given week).

Tasks

We are looking for substitute teachers to cover shifts in our Madrid locations at La Casita de Inglés. As a substitute you can cover shifts when needed (we need substitutes most days) but are never obligated to cover a shift unless you have previously agreed to do so. This is a great, flexible way to work with La Casita! You will also have priority for any permanent shifts that open up throughout the year, as well as the opportunity to work at our many daycamps and workshops.

Our after-school program runs from the second week of September til the beginning of June on:

  • Monday - Friday from 16:00-17:00 & 17:30 - 19:30 (16€/hour GROSS)

  • Saturday mornings 11:00 - 13:00 (21,4€/hour GROSS)

Requirements

  • You MUST be AUTÓNOMO in Spain

  • Fun, creative and enthusiastic teachers who love working with kids

  • You must have one year’s experience teaching or working with children in some capacity.

  • You must have a C2/native/bilingual level of English and accent regardless of nationality. This means that all nationalities are welcome, as long as your spoken English is at a native/bilingual level.

  • You must have permission to work in Spain (student visa, work permit, EU/Spanish resident, etc.). You must also have a Spanish Social Security Number (NSS) and a background check (Certificado de Delitos de Naturaleza Sexual). IMPORTANT: If you do not have any of these documents at the time of application, you will still be considered, as long as you obtain them before you begin working with us.
