Environmental Engineer for Product and Operations (Temporary)

 

About the role

Job Purpose

Moving from the Bridgestone Global Environmental Mission Statement and Long term Vision, inspired by the new Bridgestone E8 Commitment,  the EMIA Environment function support the business unit to develop road map to create, keep and enhance environmental mindset and values in all phases of our value chain, working both with our employees and engaging our customers and suppliers.

Our function play a key role within Regional Sustainability Committee and Global Environmental Working Group, bringing our expertise in setting global/regional environmental strategy and managing main environmental issues.

In the framework of our sustainability journey and to contribute to a more sustainable society, it’s becoming more and more important to evaluate the chemicals we use in our product and solutions in terms of impact to the environment and human health.

Under the supervision and coordination of the Head of BSEMEA Environment and in strict cooperation with our internal EHS experts on the matter, she/he will primary reinforce the control on environmental aspects supporting the team in:

  • assuring the compliance of our products and mobility solutions to the applicable Regulation and Car Manufacturer (OEMs) standards with regards to chemical substances content
  • assuring the proper implementation by our operations of Company and Regulatory environmental requirements/standards

Please note that this position will be offered under a fixed-term contract.

 

Responsibilities

She/he will support the EMEA Environmental Team by:

  • Confirming Safety Data Sheets compliance vs. REACh regulation, Bridgestone Standards, Car Manufacturers (OEMs) requirements and other Chemicals Restriction Lists
  • Monitoring REACH SVHC List, Authorisation List and Restriction Lists, GASDL updates and check compliance vs current line up.
  • Keeping updated OEMs requirements in terms of chemical substances (declarable / prohibited substances, communication, …) and checking compliance vs current line up.
  • facilitating the discussion R&D, procurement function, digital Garage in understanding the needs and requirements related to main Chemicals Regulation (REACh registration process, SVHC list and requirements for SVHC substances in articles (communication along the supply chain and others), Restriction and Authorization list,– Global Automotive Declarable Substance List)
  • Joining discussions with procurement team and our suppliers to explain needed documents
  • Controlling status of  IMDS submissions for each supply to OEMs and assure all rejections are managed on time on schedule
  • Managing Seveso/ADR compliance related topic
  • Assuring timely and full reporting of initiatives related to Biodiversity program
  • Summarizing environmental performances of Retail and Retreading operations vs. Company requirements
  • Confirming the implementation of Company Environmental Standards in our operations
  • Assuring the proper implementation of corrective actions in each single business as planned
  • Contributing to the digitalization of environmental process

Working relationships

  • Functions located in Technical Center, mainly: EMEA H&S, Tyre & material development, Raw material Procurement, System Engineering
  • Public Affairs and Communication, OEMs Key Account Managers, EHS windows in Plants/Retail/logistic
  • Functions involved in environmental affairs and located in other regions (mainly Bridgestone America and Bridgestone Japan) 

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

Education, Master, other certification:

  • University: degree in Engineering/Chemistry/Natural Science/Environmental Science or any other related field of study
    Desirables:
  • Master on Management of Chemicals – REACH, CLP, Evaluation and Management on Chemicals Risk
  • Master on Sustainability and ESG reporting 

 

Experience

  • 1-3 years experience in the industry
  • Past experience in automotive/tyre sectors

 

Technical Skills:

  • Roles dealing with Safety Data Sheets Evaluation vs.. Chemicals Regulations (especially REACh and CLP), Safety Data Sheets evaluation and preparation, product stewardship, compliance vs. customers requirements,  quality control, substances REACh registration
  • Management of environmental aspects in operations, ISO 14001
  • EHS role on site
  • ESG reporting

 

 

Languages Skills: 

fluent English (spoken and written),  other languages are welcome
