Job description

Within our R&D RT Positioning division, several international software and hardware teams collaborate in an agile environment to develop innovative solutions for the accurate positioning of patients undergoing cancer radiotherapy. As part of a highly skilled, agile team, you will maintain and further develop one of Brainlab’s core products, ExacTrac Dynamic - an advanced in-room patient positioning and monitoring system designed for high-precision radiotherapy treatments. The system combines revolutionary thermal surface camera technology with X-ray tracking to ensure exceptional accuracy. Every day, thousands of patients worldwide are positioned and monitored using ExacTrac Dynamic and its predecessor systems, enabling safe, precise, and effective treatment.

We are looking for an (Advanced) Project Engineer with focus on quality assurance who combines hands on testing expertise, automation skills, and structured engineering thinking. If you enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team, ensuring product quality, and contributing to the delivery of medical products, we would love to hear from you. You will be part of a cross-functional team, bringing together software developers and project engineers to develop, verify and validate high quality medical software.

You will manage multiple tasks:

Quality Assurance & Testing:

  • Plan, design, and execute manual test cases for new features and improvements.
  • Identify, analyze, and document defects, working closely with developers to drive resolution.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts (e.g., Cypress, Python).
  • Participate in verification and validation (V&V) activities following medical device standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes, workflows, and coverage.

Project Engineering:

  • Participate in specification and design discussions within the Scrum Team.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical and medical documentation (e.g., risk analysis, feature documentation).
  • Support estimation of effort, timelines, and risks for features and tasks.
  • Evaluate usability and ensure user centered design principles are considered.
  • Coordinate with other R&D departments (QM, QA, Usability, Product Management).
  • Manage small subprojects or engineering tasks independently.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of system engineering tools and methods.
